Believe it or not, they’ve gone in up value since their release. When they came out, boxes were selling at $30, and now they’re around $70. And if you were always a sports card collector when you were a kid, as I was, and you like MLS, you should get some. I bought a few packs, and I have the DCU team set.

There were MLS trading cards sporadically during the first few years of MLS too. I have an Etcheverry one around here somewhere, and a few more. I’ll have to look for them and post them…

The European version of trading cards are Sticker Books. This is a common thing to do and it gets the MLS brand out there so why not?

MLS trading cards?? That’s a laugh. I am a huge soccer fan, and want the MLS to do well (but not at the expense of keeping our best national players from improving their games abroad), but think the league should concentrate more on the product on the pitch than on the marketing off it. Besides, trading cards were so early 90’s!!! Great blog though.

Stick to Baseball cards. They are more valuable!!!

However if some marketing man 20 years ago had the same idea when greats like the late George Best, Pele, Beckenbauer, Cruyff etc graced ur shores – then we would be talking serious merchandise!
