Mourinho and Fergie up to same old tricks
By: Daryl | April 28th, 2007
Two very typical outbursts form Fergie and Mourinho recently, and a relationship once based on mutual respect and a love of fine wine has gone to the dogs.
First Mourinho was moaning / stating his opinion (delete according to who you support) about the “new rule” which apparently states United can’t concede a penalty and Chelsea can’t win one. Love him or hate him (or both) it was a very Mourinho comment, designed to make refs think twice during the Premiership run-in, while providing plenty of newspaper (and blog) fodder.
Then the United boss hit back with a very Fergie response. On the surface, he’s all concerned with the good of the game (”I don’t think it’s fair to the game itself” etc) but really the wily old Scot is just needling Mourinho, hoping for a Keggy Keegan style mental meltdown from the Chelsea boss.
Fergie semi-calmly expressed his disappointment (”It’s part of the game. You don’t like it, you complain and you feel disappointed, but it’s football. You just get on with it”) sounding like the Knight of the Realm he’s supposed to be, but he also read Mourinho’s rap sheet (including that laundry bin rumour) and suggested that “maybe he forgets he’s not in Portugal now.” Hooray! Nothing like a bit of borderline racism to heat up a title race.

Considering SAF is the master of mind games and the complaint sheet – pot, kettle, black comes to mind!!!
After today’s game against Bolton, Mourinho’s penalty opinions STAND UP. Chelsea should have had a least one penalty for a stonewall hand ball in the 2nd half. I should know I was there, I saw it, shame about the Linesman though – he didn’t and he was a few feet away from me!!!!!

I would hardly call Sir Alex’s comment borderline racism. I think he was referring to the differences in the leagues, not the nationalities.

It’s more that Fergie’s saying “it’s OK to behave that way in Portugal, but not here in England.” Either way it’s not friendly.
