New African Soccer Magazine is Now Free
By: Daryl | September 30th, 2008
Back in January we spent a month covering the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations on WCB. The three things I took away from this were:
1) African football is on the rise, 2) Manucho is a damn fine footballer, and 3) There’s not nearly enough written about African football.
What I mean by 3) is that while there’s plenty written about, say, Didier Drogba, it’s mostly by the English media and from a Premier League or Chelsea point of view. There’s very little written in-depth about African football and the various issues surrounding countries from across the continent.
But hopefully magazines like New African Soccer - a publication dedicated to African football - are going to help change all that.
The mag has actually been around for three years or so. It’s a serious publication, featuring journalists like The Guardian’s Paul Doyle and articles that ask serious questions about football in Africa. Click the these sample pages for a quick preview:

And now, rather than charging per issue, N.A.S. is going to be published as a pdf. Which means it’s free. Free as in 100% free. I’ve double and triple checked with the publishers and there’s no shady bait and switch going on.
If you’re interested in African footy you just sign up to receive New African Soccer magazine via this page and then you’ll be emailed the new issue in pdf format every two months. Easy as that.

As long as it discusses how Manucho will be the greatest player in the history of the EPL… and probably an eventual British PM, then I’m subscribing immediately…
