Nightmarish Words for Barca Fans
By: chris | July 4th, 2008
“Having said that, clearly playing in Italy is the dream of every player, including my son.
“Seeing as nobody knows what will happen in the future, let us just say it is possible that sooner or later that dream can come true.” – Lionel Messi’s father & agent.
From a realistic perspective, one team men are a thing of the past. When these rare occasions do occur, they’re typically hometown boys who have an emotional tie to the club, city and fanbase – such as Raul and Francesco Totti, two hometown boys done good.
When it comes to the most desired players on the planet, the transfer fees are more often than not an expensive lease, rather than a buy ‘em up and lock ‘em in the basement for all of eternity type deal. But even so, these words from Papa Messi must sting a bit, considering Barca is now Lionel’s team and he is arguably the most desirable player on the planet, just freshly 21 years old. For all the talent of Cristiano Ronaldo, he’s missing any semblance of professionalism and class, two qualities Messi has in abundance along with his massive talent. In short, he’s hard to hate. (Unless you root for Real Madrid and/or Brazil.)
Considering Argentina’s National Team has a satellite program in Milan being supplemented by the deepest of deep pockets – deep pockets with a massive hardon for all things Messi – the possibility that Messi could go soon isn’t all that unthinkable. Perhaps not this summer, but Massimo Moratti would fax a blank check to Barca in a heartbeat if it meant coming one step closer to his dream of an All-Argie XI featuring the country’s best player. Or maybe we should just start up Messi for Kaka rumor now? He’d have suitors, that’s for sure.
Relish Messi while you can, Barca fans. The days ma be numbered.

I wouldn’t put too much stock in this. Messi being the great teammate that he is, is simply trying to make Dinho feel better about his banishment from the club to the Serie A.

I’d hate to see Messi at Inter, they’ll be playing even more yawn-inducing football with Mourinho at the helm.

Just a comment by papa Messi I feel. No chance of Messi going anywhere in near future.

playing in italy for argentinians is basically a dream since alot of argentinians have italian heritage and because some of the best argentines played in italy like maradonna.

Messi does have Barca to thank for his treatments. I’d say that could be an emotional attachment like Totti’s or Raul’s since they helped him in his childhood.

U say that its hard to hate Messi unless ur a brazil fan, Well a couple of weeks ago (Brazil v Argentina) the Brazil fans were chanting “Messi, Messi” as he walked off the pitch!!!

I think the father is just trying to get more family money.. instead of thinking what’s best for his son.

Considering this is the same father who said his son owes Barca too much to ever move, this is just tabloid trash.

“Messi”
It’s an Italian last name. Many argentines have Italian descent. So it’s not totally out of the blue that he’d like to someday play there. It’s just not gonna happen anytime soon. And as someone said this quote is probably just tabloid fodder.Posted from
