Nike Join the Chain

By: Bob | October 16th, 2006

join-the-chain.jpgThere was a time when I was in grade school when the big thing was to send and receive chain letters. The basic premise always was that you were supposed to forward on the letter to a certain number of people or you’d risk something horrible happening like having to square dance with the redheaded girl no one liked during gym class. Oh, the horror.

The global giants at Nike have adopted this concept without the terrifying threats of square dance punishment. The apparel makers have a pretty nifty feature on their Web site called Join the Chain. It allows people from around the globe to submit video clips of them passing a ball to one another in one continuous digitally edited chain. So far the chain features more than 650 players from 70 some countries.

No sign of the red headed girl in the video but it is over an hour long and growing so she might make an appearance one of these days.
