Nike “Take it to the Next Level”

By: Inara | April 26th, 2008

nikeadvert.JPGNike’s latest commercial is definitely one of the most creative football adverts I’ve ever seen. It’s directed by Guy Ritchie, the director of Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, and Revolver. You may know him as the husband of Madonna.

“Take it to the Next Level” is scheduled to debut on ITV right before the Manchester United-Barcelona match next Tuesday, and it features a star-studded cast, including some guys you may have heard of – Arsene Wenger, Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Cesc Fabregas, just to name a few.

The video follows a teenager’s rise from a youth squad to eventual stardom with Arsenal and Holland. Using advanced technology, the commercial allows viewers to feel like they’re involved in all the action, such as scoring the goals, making out with random girls, being pushed around by Ronaldo and Materazzi, and even barfing behind some bleachers. Oh, and I can’t forget getting smooched by Cesc.

Since the commercial has yet to air, it’s not on Youtube yet. However, my favorite tabloid, The Sun, managed to get an exclusive copy, so you can watch it here.

Oh, and the commercial. I don’t get it. Although the barf-on-the-floor part was particularly classy.

The commercial is cool, but it is a shame it had to be on the Sun.

    Justice for the 96!

What the hell was Materazzi doing all the way up there in the box? I would have -fucking- -died- if he head butted Marco. Hahahahaha

Laurie: You know those people who stand in the grocery store check out lines rifling through the latest editions of Newsweek and Reader’s Digest? That’s not me. I’m the girl surreptitiously peeking at the National Inquirer who’s dying to know about Oprah’s secret alien baby.

It’s a really cool commercial. I saw it on youtube earlier. I’ll see if the link from The Sun is any different.
