No Clowning: Francesco Coco Linked with MLS move
By: Bob | September 5th, 2007
Lest you thought that last week’s close of the summer transfer window would bring to an end the rumors of past their prime players linked with moves to MLS for a while, we learn today that there is indeed another past his prime player being linked with a move to MLS. The player in this case is none other than Francesco Coco, a once promising Italian national team defender who is now pretty much an afterthought at Inter Milan.
According to newspaper reports in Italy, Coco is being tracked by Red Bull New York and the New England Revolution, and he has received offers from both clubs to come to the US in January.
Ignoring the fact that Coco was set to move to St. Etienne this past summer until the French side claimed he was not fit enough and the fact that he was booted out of a trial in Manchester City for smoking and the fact that MLS hardly needs a 30-year-old castoff, I can’t help but wish for these rumors to come to fruition.
The Clown Prince is a legend in the Italian tabloids and a legendary ladies man when he isn’t reportedly dallying with transvestites. He might not do much to elevate the quality of play in MLS but he will do wonders for its tabloids image,

New England and New York are tracking him and he’s done all that. I, for one, as a DC fan would welcome this.

Could’ve been Maldini’s heir but he had a bad injury. He played for Italy at Japan/Korea 2002. At least we may see his hot girlfriends at the games. I’ll go to Giants Stadium just for that.
