Norway offers the Greenest Pastures for European Footballers
By: Bob | November 27th, 2006
Forget England and Spain. Don’t even think about signing to play in Italy or France. If you are a footballer who wants to play in the most financially attractive leagues in the world, than you should look northward towards Norway. According to a report commissioned by FifPro and performed by the financial-services company Ernst & Young, Norway offers the best combination of money and pension security. Apparently this offsets the copious amounts of lutefisk you must eat while playing there. The Netherlands, Spain and England round out the top four most finacially appealing leagues in Europe. The Moldovan league finished a distant 127th, right behind the U-10 league in Occitania.
Meanwhile, Barcelona has earned the distinction of having the most powerful brand in world football according to a survey of Fortune 500 businesses. I’m not sure when the business term “brand” first entered my life, but I can assure you that every time I hear it I cringe like I have just seen another close-up of Olliver Kahn’s face.
Your top 10 world football brands:
1. Barcelona
2. Manchester United
3. Real Madrid
4. Chelsea
5. AC Milan
6. Bayern Munich
7. Arsenal
8. Liverpool
9. Inter Milan
10. Lyon
