Now That’s A Proper Derby

By: chris | February 28th, 2008

Everybody knows it’s not a proper derby unless a red card or two is displayed. Fenerbahce and Galatasaray scoff at this notion, as one to two red cards is way, way too soft for the fiercest of rivals. So in their cup game the duo combined for four red cards, with Fenerbahce ending the game with an octet. Galatasaray won 2-1, as you might expect. (Fenerbahce’s goal from Gokhan was also all kinds of spectacular – 4:30)

That 2nd red was utter BS. I can understand the ref wanting to take control of the game; it being a heated derby and all but he just exasperated it. Poor poor job by the ref.
