Also, #1 draft pick in MLS doesn’t necesssarily mean “best,” at least in the case of Generation Adidas kids, i.e. the younger, non-college grads who’ve come through the GA program. Instead it frequently means “He has potential and since he’s GA, his salary doesn’t count against the cap.” That was the case here.

I still have hope, though. The problem is, he’s not quite good enough to be a regular starter, and when you’re not a regular starter in MLS, you don’t get the experience to become good enough to be a regular starter, since there’s no longer a reserve league. It’s kind of a Catch 22.

a snippet of his finishing touch throughout the season. I have seen every Sounders FC game, and this is par the course for Our team and Zakuani. That said I take it with a grain of salt that if he were a more complete player and had a finishing touch to match his pace and agility than he would not be a Sounder he would probably be with his brother at Peterborough United.

Having watched Every Sounders FC game, and all Home games in person I can tell you that if Zakuani had some sort of finishing ability he would not be in MLS. His pace on the wing is excellent. This is a snippet of a problem that has faced him all season. That said he forces the other teams defense to often put two men on him, and gives us a ton of corner kicks. So I take his positives with his negatives knowing that if he was a more complete player…..he would be with his brother at Peterborough United.
