Offside Sound-Off: Tell Us Your Dream Transfer Signing
By: Laurie | January 11th, 2008
Remember last week when I was talking about my Champions League hopes for my favorite former bad boy, Nicolas Anelka? Well, guess what? He signed for Chelsea today! I read the news first thing this morning and it made me feel all warm and happy inside.
Well, okay, maybe that was the triple venti latte. Whatever. My point here is that this was the one signing I really, really wanted to see happen, and now it’s a done deal. Go, Nico! Make me proud!
Transfer seasons do that to people, don’t they? Get us all worked up about potential moves, most of which never happen.
But what if you had the power? What if you could make the deal yourself?
We at The Offside want to know:
If you had the power to make any one transfer deal happen, which player and team would you choose and why?
(Thanks to Chris and FIFA for the idea.)

Wow…this much power is a little intoxicating. I could send Messi to Everton or Sevilla and alter the balance of footballing power in the world. One completely unrealistic move I think would be really interesting would be Carles Puyol to Spurs — I’d love to see how good they could be with a stronger defense. They’d probably still finish fifth.
Somehow “Carles Puyol to Spurs” doesn’t quite feel like an all-time dream transfer — I should be sending Kaka to Arsenal or something. But I think it would be an interesting experiment.
