Didn’t Onyewu ask for a tv show or wrote a book about what happened? It seems to me like the old american style of overreacting! If it’s his word against van Damme’s,than this is pointless!

What if “dirty” and “cheeky” in belgian were synonymous?

Yeah as a referee you really can’t do anything about it. Although I knew a ref that was a FIFA for 15 years and he was reffing a little under-10 game. A boy came up to him and told him that another player said he was going to break the boys legs after the game. The ref called the accused boy over and asked him if he said that. When the boy admitted it he gave him a red card.

So that could happen but yeah, refs got tons of stuff going on all the time. They’re not going to hear stuff especially if it’s said between players close to eachother. Also refs usually refuse to act unless they SEE a player say something, that is they see their mouth make the movements with the sound.

Yeah, hopefully at the least it will encourage stronger action by FIFA for the Kick it Out campaign. There really is no place for racist abuse in football.
