Out-of-Favor Troyes Player Sues coach for Mean Words
By: Bob | March 22nd, 2007
Here is a novel way to get back at your manager when he doesn’t let you suit up for the first team. You can sue him. That is exactly what out-of-favor Troyes defender Jean-Louis Montero is doing even though he insists that he is more upset with the hurtful words of his coach Jean-Marc Furlan than he is with his lack of playing time.
Montero explains the justification for his first-of-its-kind defamation lawsuit in France.
“This has nothing to do with the fact I’m no longer playing. He has called my honour into question on numerous occasions,” Montero said.
“In an artical written on November 28, he (Furlan) said that I was no longer good enough to play in the first division. I have played 200 matches in that league,” said the 34-year-old Montero, who has even failed to make the reserve team.
Geez Louis, I mean, Jean-Louis are you really that sensitive? We lost the whole calling my honor into question argument about 200 years ago. People don’t spend much time defending their honor these days. They’d rather have a remote control in their hands than a dueling sword.
Instead of defending your honor perhaps you should defend your opponents. Your coach might like you more and you won’t go through so many tissues at night crying yourself to sleep.
