A youth match descended into chaos on Sunday, resulting in a fairly rare – maybe – 36 red cards, all players and substitutes being sent to the showers, from the showers. The referees never actually flashed red, because they’d long fleed the pitch for their own safety.

Rather than trying to end the brawl, the match officials ran off the field in fear. For this reason, Martinez believes they had no other recourse but to dismiss all 36 players since they did not stay to identify culprits.

So this is our future, huh? 36 red cards?
