Paul Scholes: The World Class Finisher.

By: chris | February 16th, 2010

An undoubtedly rough day for the red and black side of the San Siro in their 3-2 home loss, despite the uplifting start offered by Ronaldinho and a Manchester deflection. The first half did go quite well for Milan, with a bundle of chances (though unconverted), all save for the most fortunate goal you’re bound to see in this, or any, Champions League campaign.

Paul Scholes, that Paul Scholes, whiffed on a cross from the right – where the Milan left back should’ve been, but was off the pitch getting treatment – only to have the ball ricochet off his plant leg, knock off the post and scamper into the back of the net for the ever valuable away goal. In the next hundred years of football to be played all around the globe, this goal could never be recreated.

Which leads one to believe Paul Scholes is the best finisher in the whole wide world. Who else can score off their plant leg? Precisely.

And as an added bonus, watch the assist of the day from Patrice Evra:

Presumably he’s fine with the day’s end despite the folly.

Goals like that do not happen by accident. Oh wait, yes they do.

Rooney's headers and Seedorf's classy finish were good, but Scholes' and 'Dinho's deflected volley were a little lucky in my opinion.

Paul Scholes. I'd buy him a drink any day. World class, and not a narcissistic preening moron like most footballers are.
  • the team had such a great game in Italy today...
