Photos of the Day: Read the Manager Emotion

By: Laurie | July 22nd, 2008

The European season is creaking back into gear. A friendly here, an InterToto Cup match there. We’re even seeing some early round Champions League qualifiers. What does this mean?

It means it’s once again time to play the “Read the Manager Emotion” game!

Using only the clues from body language, facial expressions and hand gestures, tell us what’s going on in the match.

First up? Peter Nicolas of the Welsh club Llanelli.

Next? Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. The occasion? A friendly with Haladas in Szombathely, Hungary.

And finally, Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez at Hertha Berlin. Doesn’t he look happy?

Wenger: I sold Hleb cos he was a bit, y’know, *taps head*

Llanelli manager: Come on boys, if we win tonight, and then win again in the next round, and then beat a half decent side in the third round, we get to the Champions League, where we’ll get decimated once a fortnight!

Rafa: My name is Rafael and I’m an alcoholic.

Wenger: It’s all in your head Arsène, it’s all in your head. Hleb, Flamini and van Persie are still Arsenal players. Are they, precious?

Peter Nicholas: Oh shit, me back aches again!

Rafa: Darn it, I was still in Ibiza yesterday, oh I do hate this job, can’t enjoy “la vida loca”
