Pierluigi Collina: Captain of Industry in Retirement

By: Bob | August 2nd, 2006

pierluigi_collina.jpgUsually when a referee retires from football we are there to open the door and to make sure it hits him on the way out.

But in the case of Pierluigi Collina, we generally miss the guy. The buggy eyes, the bald head, the no nonsense approach to refereeing…the guy could seemingly take over a match without ever getting in the way.

So we pleased that Collina is living the good life now that he no longer blows a whistle for a living. Just the other day the referee turned celebrity was in Kuala Lumpur of all places presenting a paper called “The Art of Decision Making” at the Global Leadership Forum

We’ve never been to the Global Leadership Forum, we’re more followers than leaders, but we are impressed that Collina was asked to present at an event that bills itself as a place for “top international speakers and captains of industry to present their views”.

Captain of industry. If ever there were a term to describe Collina that would be it.
