Pikum! on The Offside
By: Daryl | August 26th, 2008
The latest addition to The Offside is Pikum!, where you can pit your predicting skills against fellow football fans. If you’re in the UK then you can put money on your picks, but if not you can still get involved for Pikles and bragging rights.
Because here’s how Pikum! is very different to gambling: All Pikum! games are run on a peer to peer social network basis, so you’re playing against other people instead of the house. There’s no house taking the winnings. Which is usually where most of the money goes.
Basically you can either create a Pikum or enter an existing one, and then you enter your stake and make picks. For example I just entered a Pikum involving the Liverpool vs Standard Liege and Arsenal vs FC Twente Champions League games this week. I picked the winners of the games, how many goals each team would score and whether extra time and penalties would be necessary.
If all or any of my picks are correct (Liverpool to win 2-1, Arsenal to win 3-0, no extra time, since you ask) then I get a share of the winnings, depending on how many people picked correctly.
