You people seem to be forgetting…the 2002 world cup was a joke. By the time it got to the quarters it was anyone’s game, even england were being tipped as potential winners. Which of course was a load of rubbish. It could so easily have been a south korea v turkey final though.

Ferguson has made Man Utd what it is today. All you have to do is look at the Man Utd honours. Before 1992/93 the last league title was 66/67. The club had a lot of success in the 60s, and then very little for 20 years until ferguson came along. Now Man Utd is one of the biggest clubs in the world.

ferguson has gotten lucky. he can’t pick players worth a sh*t, but guess what, if you have enough tries your bound to come up with something good (cantona, ronaldo). scolari took a brasil team that was in shambles and won the world cup. ferguson doesn’t even have the courage or skill to try and coach a national side. this is not even a question – ferguson is good for a provincial manager but he will never be world class.

Scolari won the world cup with a stacked Brazilian team. When he coached Portugal WITH C.Ronaldo, he couldn’t win anything. Plus in international games you don’t have to worry about trying to keep your best players away from opponents. How many of Scolari’s Brazilian team players were considering jumping ship to France, Germany, or Argentina.
