elvis-preston-north-end.jpgWith just one point from three games English League Championship side Preston North End are off to a slow start this season. They have also gotten off to a slow start in games. Their manager Paul Simpson wants to do something about it.

Simpson is asking club officials to abandon its practice of playing the Elvis Presley ballad ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ before kick-off. It is a tradition that has been taking place at Preston for more than a decade and it is one that Simpson thinks hurts his team.

Simpson said: “I don’t know whose idea this song is at the start, because it seems to put everyone in a bit of a depression.

“We have to make sure we get something which the players
respond to and go out and perform — and the fans respond to as well.

“Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying we are losing games because of that song.

“But we have to do whatever we can to generate an atmosphere.”

Simpson wouldn’t have this problem if his team played in MLS.
