Public Service Announcement: FootballFilter.com

Though we regularly link to our favourite football blogs in the Daily Dose, there are certain other sites out there that we (or at least I) visit everyday, but don’t get a chance to mention. Most of these are aggregator sites like SoccerBlogs.net, which does exactly what it says on the tin and supplies a feed of posts from various soccer blogs. A site like NewsNow is also useful (and popular) though it tends to reward deliberately vague transfer-rumour-tastic headlines like Reds Sign SUPERSTAR Striker in INCREDIBLE Deal!?!
The new(ish) kid on the block in the aggregator game is one of my faves: FootballFilter. To be clear, this isn’t a paid advertisement or site review. Just one football site wanting to let its readers know about another football site.
So what exactly is FootballFilter? It’s basically a Smörgåsbord of football media: newspaper headlines, selected blogs (like The Offside), images, videos, podcasts and so on. The available content is filtered for quality by the people who run the site. Hence the name.
Personally, I use FootballFilter as a one stop shop to swallow all the football media I can in one gulp, from one place. But the site allows you to further filter that information to suit your own tastes. For example, if you want to read the broadsheet newspaper football headlines but not the tabloids, you can do that. Or vice versa (though I wouldn’t recommend it).
New features also allow you to focus on one specific team or league, like (choosing completely at random of course) Wolverhampton Wanderers. You can also login and “approve” certain sources (feel free to approve The Offside) and save stories for later reading.
So I’d encourage everyone to visit Football Filter, add it to your bookmarks, and visit regularly to stay informed. And then come back to The Offside afterwards to see things like this.
