Q and As with Travis from KC Wizards Offside

Travis is our most long-distance blogger at MLS Offside. He’s an MLS fan who is currently blogging on Kansas City Wizards Offside all the way from Australia, at least temporarily. He’s also an actual, legit author who has published four books. (As opposed to those of us who are 100% illegitimate.)

And here is Travis in his own words:

Favorite team besides the one you blog on?
MLS team – DC United (or the new Philly team, but not til 2010)
EPL team – Arsenal
A-League team – Sydney FC

The player you’d most like to kick a ball around with ?

Jozy Altidore. Homegrown American talent.

Favorite ice cream?
Vanilla straight up.

Favorite on-the-field formation (4-4-2, 4-3-3, etc.)?
Give me a 4-3-3. Plenty of attacking, much less defending.

Cats or dogs?
Dogs. Cats are useless (no offense).

Favorite non-Offside soccer blog (because obviously we’re your favorite)
Definitely Steve Goff’s Inside Soccer. Coverage that can’t be topped anywhere.

Last DVD you watched
Die Hard. The first one. For those of you who haven’t heard the song based of the trilogy, find it now. It’s awesome.

Who’s going to win the MLS Cup this year?
The Wizards. Duh.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I think a baseball player (I stopped playing when I was 12).

If you had to keep your eyes locked on one position (e.g. striker, goalkeeper, etc.) for an entire game, which would it be?
Holding midfielder.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know.
I’ve written four books.

The most games you’ve ever watched in a twenty-four hour period?
Probably four or five. Can’t recall a time or a place, although I think I once got up at 7:45 and watched games til 2:15ish. So however many games that would be.

Morning person or night person?
Morning person usually.

Favorite national team outside of your own?
France for some reason.

Favorite TV show to watch in reruns?
The Simpsons

Favorite current player on any team?
Mathieu Flamini

Favorite comfort food?
Pizza? I like a lot of food.

“Gruesome Soccer Injuries” video. Would you watch or not?
No, I have a weak stomach.

Favorite sport or physical activity to participate in?
Basketball because it’s my best sport. Soccer hasn’t been easy for me to come by lately.

Best game you’ve ever seen?
In person? A 3-2 win by Sydney FC over their rivals the Central Coast Mariners. It was epic. I was sitting in the supporters section and they go ballistic when Sydney scores. Awesome. On TV, I watched the ‘98 World Cup Final in France when they beat Brazil. Don’t know if I’ll ever be in a country when they win the World Cup for a long time (USA!)

Best pet you’ve ever had?
A dog named Pepper that we had from when I was 11 til last year when she passed away.

Favorite goalkeeper ever?
Jorge Campos (non-US). As far as US keepers go, Brad Friedel.
