Quiz Answers: Eastern Europe.

By: chris | May 24th, 2009

They were a bit difficult – alright, they were almost mean – but I suppose it’s only appropriate given the lack of exposure Eastern European football gets in Western Europe and the remainder of the world (sometimes for very good reason). Two of the four still remaining in Europe – not long in the case of Anatoliy Tymoschuk – both played for Zenit, last year’s UEFA Cup chanmps.

Still leagues which are rising, but still a long way to go yet.

Dmytro Chygrynskiy

Remember thy name.

If only because it’s difficult to spell.

Spotter’s Badge: Unclaimed.

Konstantin Zyryanov

The most unlikely of stars.

Spotter’s Badge: Comrade.

Serhiy Rebrov

Is it possible to discuss one of Ukraine’s stars and the Robin to Sheva’s Dynamo Batman without mentioning Tottenham?

Oops.

Spotter’s Badge: Unclaimed.

Ciprian Marica

Ciprian has big eyes which have no idea where the goal lies. One of those highly gifted strikers who can do everything but put the ball in the net. (Probably not the opening line of his CV.)

Spotter’s Badge: DarthZombie.

Cosmin Contra

Never met a forward run he didn’t like.

Spotter’s Badge: DarthZombie.

Valeri Bojinov

Yes, he still plays football. Or at least accepts a paycheck.

Spotter’s Badge: Unclaimed.

Artur Boruc

Have any Rangers fans ever pointed out that his eyes are…umm…nevermind.

Spotter’s Badge: Jadczak.

Balazs Dzsudzsak

He’s not exactly Puskas, but Hungary has another star on the horizon.

Spotter’s Badge: Unclaimed.

Marek Hamsik

Marek has many tattoos, hair that made a drive-by through the electric chair and is, at 21, already Slovakia’s greatest player. No pressure.

Spotter’s Badge: Marcus.

Jan Blazek

Jan’s Wiki needs every exposure possible:

Words to live by indeed.

Spotter’s Badge: Unclaimed.

Anatoliy Tymoschuk

Anatoliy combats his feminine features with the occasional goatee. ‘Bout it.

Spotter’s Badge: Comrade.

Can you not come up with another type of quiz? I think this one kind of indicates that you’re really scraping the barrel with this “spot the player from the eyes” thing…

Did you miss Bojinov’s lovely goal last weekend? He just needs to get over the injuries, get match fit and he’ll be just fine….
