Quote of the Day: DC United’s Doug Hicks

By: Laurie | June 18th, 2008

“As evidenced at United games for years, the passion of our supporters cannot possibly be contained by clothing. In extreme cases, Luciano Emilio goals have even prompted fans to spontaneously disrobe.”

– DC United’s VP of Communications, Doug Hicks, discussing the team’s policy on shirtless (male) fans.

We at The Offside firmly believe that the world needs more sports front office people with A) a sense of humor and B) a liberal policy toward nudity.

Go, Doug!

P.S. The photo is from a DC United game last year. So it’s on topic. No, really. Because I couldn’t find any shirtless photos of DC United players. And heaven knows I tried.

(Damn, I love this job.)

Since the article is about shirtless fans and management’s reaction to it, you could have posted a picture of Craig McAllister shaking hands with Roman Abramovich.
