Rafael Van der Vart “almost certainly the last signing” at Real Madrid This Season
By: Daryl | August 5th, 2008Interesting comment from Ramon Calderon after Real Madrid signed Rafael van der Vaart from Hamburg.
“Rafael van der Vaart is a player of great quality, vision and talent,” Calderon said when the midfielder was unveiled at the Bernabeu.
“We are certain that he will be a player who will help us complement the already very strong squad we have.
“He is the first and almost certainly the last signing we will make this season.”
So I guess that means no more chasing Cristiano Ronaldo?
At 15 million euros, van der Vaart represents an absolute bargain compared to the silly money C-Ron would have cost.
And if RvdV can show some more of the skills in the video above, then he’s one hell of a consolation signing.
But Madrid fans will be hoping he doesn’t do this again…

Real want to appear relaxed as if they lost their interest in pursuing CR, its simply a technique to attempt to drive down his price. Los blancos have already accomplished their intention of confronting the player and his coach, we’ll see in the next few days if CR says publicly he’s leaving and then we’ll see the end of the story. Real want to keep calm until the last moment just as man u will continue to say he’s not for sale, both parties are following the rules to get the best deal possible.
Calderón is also aware of the bad press since the Kaka bid, the president doesnt want to chitchat excessively since he’ll look like a fool if it doesnt work out, at the time being im confident the deal with go down since CR continues to avoid ferguson and is pointing towards the bernabeu besides also the fact that the fans are quite upset with him.
