Rogue Agent On The Loose
By: chris | June 4th, 2008
You’d think in today’s day and age people couldn’t just to pretend to be somebody else in the public eye. The internet has so much info, particularly in the big wide world of sports, that it’s got to be impossible to play yourself off as a superagent to the stars without somebody knowing you’re a fraud, right? Wrong. Vincenzo Morabito, who is an agent, has been offering up his clients services to various clubs. Only they’re not his clients.
A few weeks ago it was reported by Vincenzo that Alberto Aquilani was “in talks with Arsenal”, which was news to everyone - most notably Aquilani, who was actually in negotiations with just one club: Roma. Also quite confused because Morabito isn’t his agent, it’s Franco Zavaglia.
Then there was a report the other day that Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to Real Madrid was imminent. Guess who started up that rumor? Yup. That made Arnold Oosterveer, KJH’s real agent, mighty pissed, because there’s no such deal on the table.
‘This is ridiculous. I didn’t know this story but I can tell that all that is printed there is nonsense.
‘There is no contact with Real Madrid or any other club for the matter about Huntelaar.
‘Morabito is not the agent of Klaas-Jan and we have in the past already rapped him over the knuckles. Unbelievable. It’s also a shame that a renowned sports paper like L’Equipe prints this rubbish.’
Who knows how many other players he’s claiming to represent in the press. And shame on L’Equipe for failing to get their facts straight. There are very few reputable sources when it comes to these matters in Europe and they’re one of them.
Seems like FIFA and/or UEFA might need to step in here, but I have a better solution: Let’s send this guy down to Napoli for some good old fashioned “convincing”. We’ll see how many non-clients he has after that.

Alberto’s agent is his dead now. He hasnt renewed his contract with Zavaglia and it expired end of 2007. Zavaglia is still benefiting from his current contract until the next and sometimes gives interviews about him.
Morabito is the guy who wanted to bring Aquilani to Chelsea when he was 16.

Wasn’t Morabito taking Alex Hleb for ice cream as well? Except I keep reading Hleb’s agent is a guy called Nikolai Shpilevski. I can’t keep track…
