Roman Abramovich won’t have to share custody of Jose Mourinho
By: Bob | March 14th, 2007
It is a true testament to how incredibly screwed up this world is that a wife can divorce her husband and reportedly receive $1.9 billion and that is seen as a good thing for the husband. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has split from his wife Irina and according to those ubiquitous unnamed sources she won’t be getting half of his $18.7 billion fortune as proscribed under U.K. law. Instead she’ll have to figure out a way to get buy on the Gross Domestic Product of many countries.
It is equally telling that in these modern times couples need to release public statements saying that their divorce won’t change a darned thing on the football pitch.
“Mr and Mrs Abramovich have divorced in Russia on a consensual basis and have agreed terms in respect of arrangements for their children and a financial settlement. Mr Abramovich’s corporate interests, including Chelsea Football Club, are not affected by the divorce proceedings. Mr and Mrs Abramovich would appreciate it if the family’s privacy would be respected. No further comment will be made.”
Substitute “Jose Mourino” for “Mrs Abramovich” and we might be seeing this statement again in the coming months.
