Ronaldinho Plays the Victim
By: Bob | June 1st, 2007
It never ceases to amaze when an athlete does something wrong, is subsequently punished and then claims to be the victim. The latest to go down this well trodden path is Ronaldinho. The Barcelona star was shown a red card last week against Getafe and has subsequently been suspended for next week’s derby clash against Espanyol.
The timing couldn’t be worse for Barca. With two matches left they are in a dogfight with Real Madrid and Sevilla for top billing in La Liga.
“It is not fair. For me it is very important to play against Espanyol because of what we are playing for and it is a shame that it cannot happen,” Ronaldinho said in Marca.
The fact that I was born with bad hair isn’t fair either, but that is life, as sad as it might be.
The fact is that as you can see in the video below Ronaldinho clearly deserved to be sent off against Getafe and by the rules of the sport that means he must sit out the next match regardless of its importance. It was a stupid move on his part. His club appealed the ruling, it was upheld by the Spanish Football Federation and no amount of whining will change that. Just ask David Beckham. Oops, bad example.

Whats Ronnie’s problem?! I would have loved to see that one player on Espanyol just snuff the sh*t out of him, but then again I don’t.
