Ronaldo Is Immune To Things Such As Surgery
By: chris | August 13th, 2009
About a month back there were some rumors that Ronaldo, while already under the knife for a broken wrist, had some fat sucked out of this tummy in a surgical BOGO (no clue whether or not this was performed in the back of a van in the club parking lot). And with his return impending, he’s been thrust back in front of the raging piranha pit known as the media. As you can guess, one of the questions was….did you have liposuction, Sir Fatass?
To which Ronaldo replied…
“I don’t even know if I did.
What I do in my private life, as I said before, is exclusive to me,” Ronaldo said. “I don’t have to give explanations to anybody, not to the press and not to the fans. The fans only care about the player Ronaldo.”
I could hardly care less whether or not Ronaldo had liposuction, and I suspect the same can be said for many others.
There is, however, one slight worry with this whole situation: who doesn’t know if they’ve had surgery or not? Surgery, on occasion, does not feel good. You might even say it feels bad. And while I may not be the foremost expert on this, sticking a tube from the wrist surgical site down through to the tummy such that Ronaldo is unaware of his lipo may pose a few problems.
This would lead us to believe that Ronaldo was poked or prodded somewhere in the general tummy vicinity. And from this we can assume…he should probably know about it. There’s also that whole consent thing, which means he likely had to give the go-ahead for his surgery. That is, unless he signed the consent without reading the fine print, just as any good athlete does his professional contract…
And on second thought, this now makes perfect sense.

To me it sounds like he was just pissed at the question, gave a sarcastic answer, and then decided to explain himself. I’d have probably done the same thing.

As long as he’s happy, playing, making goals, I’m happy. He’s given everything to the game, gone through excruciating pain to keep doing so, and given us a lot of joy. He doesn’t have to anything to answer for.

Ahh the classic ‘Chloroform rag followed by lipo’ trick. Gotta watch out for that.

Jees, cut the man a break. He was only one of the best players to ever grace the game.

It has been fashionable to knock O Fenômeno in recent years rather than appreciate the autumn phase of this great striker’s career. Let us not forget this is the man with more World Cup goals to his name than anyone in history. Like Shearer in England here is a player who has come back from a string of career threatening injuries, got himself fit and starting banging them in all over again. His passion for the game has taken him back to his homeland despite having the comforts to allow him to hang up his boots for a while now. Ronaldo’s love of scoring goals has now taken him to the upper reaches of the goalscoring chart in his domestic league just a few behind another often knocked striker Adriano. Unfortunately for Ronaldo it will always be stories like this that create the headlines rather than his kind words for the recently departed Sir Bobby Robson.

Every time I see that picture, a little piece of me dies.

I agree with what most of you are saying. Who the hell cares, as long as he continues to do what he does best – thrill and score.
Despite the fact that he stabbed my club in heart twice – once when we nursed him back to health and he left us for Real, and again when he returned to Milan of all clubs – I cannot forget that this is the man that made me fall in love with football to begin with. I hope that he makes it to South Africa next year, if only just to score a few more goals and make his record untouchable.
