Rooney, Mido, Vieri Keeping the Lawyers Busy

By: Bob | April 20th, 2007

rooney-book.jpgIf you were unfortunate enough to read Wayne Rooney’s autobiography “My Story So Far” you probably would like to sue the Manchester United star for the 20 seonds it took you to decide it was crap. His pen is not as mighty as others. You are not the only one who objects to what is in the book. Everton manager David Moyes is suing Rooney claiming he has “injured his professional and personal reputation”.

Moyes is upset with his former player because Rooney said some rather unpleasant and possibly libelous things about him in the book. He apparently thinks that others might actually read the tome. I guess that is a possibility. There are a couple of interesting aspects to this. The first is that Manchester United face Everton next Saturday. The second is that Everton will receive a big bonus if Rooney and the gang go on to win the treble this year. Suing him at this point in time doesn’t seem like a good way of seeing that through.

In other legal fun, Tottenham striker Mido is facing a possible lawsuit from a player that he injured in a game three years ago. Mostafa Abdul-Rahim is still pissed with the Egyptian striker after all these years.

The 24-year-old’s career was in doubt and he needed major surgery to repair a tear to his cruciate ligament, which Mido paid around €28,000 for.

During Abdul-Rahim’s recovery, Mido also paid for six months of treatment as his club did not have the finances to pay themselves.

Now though, Abdul-Rahim has claimed that he needs more treatment is threatening to sue Mido if he does not cover that expense too.

Not sure what more Mido could do for Abdul-Rahim, other than perhaps give him his own leg.

If that isn’t odd enough, there is also the case of the Italian striker Christian Vieri, who is suing his former club Inter Milan. Vieri alleges that Inter tapped his phone and followed him around as he screwed one hot supermodel after another. Why Inter would have gone to the trouble and the expense when the paparrazi probably had it all covered anyway is beyond me.
