Rubin Kazan Win Russian Title In Proper Fashion

Rubin Kazan won their first ever championship on their 50th anniversary – albeit amidst minor rumbles of “championship fixing” – and they did so in dramatic fashion. It was always in the cards, they’ve won it with three games left due to a solid ten point cushion, but three goals in the final 15 set up an epic finish. Roman Adamov, last year’s Russian top scorer along with Tottenham’s current hero for the week, scored his first of the campaign in the 27th fixture before Pyotr Nemov’s equalizer in the 82nd seemed to put off the celebrations. But golden oldie Savo Miosevic’s 89th minute winner turned out to be a pretty proper way to send the RPL’s winners trophy outside of Moscow for only the third time since the league’s inception in 1992.
