Rumors Of A Rumble Between Franck Ribery & Arjen Robben

And at the heart of it, of course, is Bild. Bless them.

There are rumblings of some rumbling between Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben at halftime of the Bayern v Real Champions League semifinal earlier in the week, escalating to the point of Franck punching Arjen in the face.

The stories claim it to be based on Robben backing Toni Kroos to take a freekick instead of Ribery, but Franck could always argue he was simply acting upon the wishes of all Bayern fans after Arjen’s solo meltdown against Borussia Dortmund on the weekend, helping to hand them the title.

An argument is said to have taken place during Bayern’s 2-1 victory at home to Real Madrid in the teams’ Champions League semi-final first leg on Tuesday, with Robben apparently instructing Ribery to let Toni Kroos take a free-kick in first-half injury time.

The row then reportedly escalated, with Sport Bild claiming Ribery and Robben became involved in a verbal row at half-time before the former aimed a punch at the latter. Robben afterwards appeared to have bruising under his eye.

There might be worse times to pick a fight with a teammate, but certainly not many.

The internets are devoid of even the freekick squabble leading up to the lockerroom kerfuffle, but there is this wonderful little video of the two trialing for the Summer Olympic dive teams of their respective countries.
