Ruud van Nistelrooy Looks a Bit Like a Horse. So What?

Sometimes footballers have a passing resemblance to something or someone else, and sometimes it’s worth a chuckle. But most of the time it isn’t. Especially when said resemblance has already been noted about five million times too many already.

My favourite instance of this was from gone-but-not forgotten BBC show Fantasy Football League, where viewers were asked to please stop writing in (this was pre-email) about Chelsea’s Romanian right-back Dan Petrescu. “We know he looks like Fox Mulder from X-Files” they said. “We just don’t care.”

I feel the same way about Ruud van Nistelrooy looking a bit like a horse.
