Saturday Junk Pile: Bungee Jumping and Underwear Modeling (but not at the same time)
By: Laurie | February 21st, 2009Today’s dose of items which made me smile this weekend, but which didn’t deserve their own posts.

This photo is from a few months back, but I hadn’t seen it till this week. It’s Beckham bungee jumping on the Galaxy’s trip to New Zealand. Wonder how the insurers let him get away with that?
(Is anybody else thinking, “Wow, cool!” and suddenly wanting to travel to New Zealand?)
And speaking of the Galaxy’s trip down under? Quite the scandal. Seems the Australia leg drew far fewer spectators than anticipated. (Either Beckham is not quite the draw he used to be or the Aussies figured out that the Galaxy kind of suck these days. Or both.) This led to a huge loss, to the tune of $1.8 million.
And whose on the hook for the loss? Auckland Regional Council ratepayers.
And there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth, and a call for far stricter regulation of government entities when it comes to staging of events that might result in a loss.
I’m thinking that the guy who pushed this game could start an Unemployment Support Group with the Radio Shack guy who thought those voodoo dolls were a good idea.
(I hear Big Phil Scolari also has some free time these days.)
And finally, I was searching for something for the Seattle blog (Seattle Sounders FC being the current home of Freddie Ljungberg) and stumbled across this video.
Let this be a warning to you, kids. Modeling underwear may seem like a lucrative and harmless endeavor and a fun opportunity to show off the results of all that hard work in the gym.
But keep in mind that if you do it enough, eventually somebody is going to collect all of your photos together and insert them in a video set to sappy music.
The result? Something which probably ought to be sexy but really just makes people giggle.
