Saturday Summary: Michael Ball the footballer is even more evil than Michael Ball the singer
By: Daryl | May 5th, 2007
Least subtle tackle: Michael Ball (this one, not that one) on Cristiano Ronaldo, in the Manchester derby. Michael Ball not only avoided a red card, he later dived to win a penalty the cheeky scamp. But…
Most deserved penalty miss: They let Darius Vassell take it. He missed, giving us this magnificent stat: Manchester City’s 10 home goals in the 2006/7 Premiership is the worst in England’s top division, ever. Meanwhile Manchester United won 1-0 with a Ronaldo penalty. The title is almost theirs. Almost.
Performance of the day: Carlos Tevez made Premiership lawyers even more uncomfortable today. He was all fired up, leading West Ham to a 3-1 win over Little Sam’s Bolton which dragged them out of the relegation zone for the first time in a long time. This glorious 9th minute free kick was Carlitos’ first, but he also tapped in a second and provided the cross for our goal of the day…
Goal of the day: Mark Noble sealed West Ham’s win with this beauty. Bosh. Wigan lost at home to Middlesbrough, so they replace West Ham in the dreaded bottom three.
One-two: Clint Dempsey finally got his goal-scoring mojo going in the Prem. He dribbled, played a one-two with Liam Rosenoir, darted into the box and finished past Pepe Reina to score the only goal in Fulham’s 1-0 win over an under-strength Liverpool. The win keeps Fulham out of trouble for now, so maybe Sheffield United, Wigan and Charlton will sue Liverpool as well.

Rosenior is close but Radzinski is way offside.
A redletter day for refs today. Xabi gets headbutted in the face, no call, Ronaldo gets stepped on, no call, and a missed offside call that might cost another club ₤60 million.

Disgraceful move by Ball although many people have wanted to do that to Ronaldo the past few years.

Wow, at least two players offside on Dempsey’s goal.
