Scouting Chelsea Via Video Games
By: Bob | January 9th, 2007
One of the beautiful things about domestic cup competitions like the FA Cup in England is that it matches up teams that don’t meet very often and forces teams to scramble for information about obscure players on obscure teams. Take Nottingham Forest defender Julian Bennett, for example. When his team was drawn against some London team named Chelsea, he was forced to turn to video games to get adequate scouting information.
Well, not really, but the Forest defender is hoping that all those hours sitting in front of the tube hitting the x-y combination on his controller while playing as John Terry pays off when the two sides meet later this month.
Bennett said: “It will be interesting to play against them properly and not just on Pro-Evolution Soccer!
“I was watching the draw with some of the lads and a few of us were out of our seats when we got Chelsea.”
That was the same reaction Borat had and his club was whitewashed 6-1 by Chelsea on Saturday, but perhaps Bennett’s game playing knowledge will pay off or at least help him to understand why the Chelsea players are firing imaginary missiles at him after they score.
