Sergio Ramos and Raul Albiol Play Footie Invaders

By: Jan | March 7th, 2010

While this Nike viral is supposed to sell us shoes, it might create much more demand for the video game.

Real Madrid (adidas) and Spain (adidas) teammates Sergio Ramos (Nike) and Raul Albiol (Nike) are invited to play a special version of Space Invaders, developed in Nike’s Labs as a high precision benchmarking tool to measure the accuracy of their new football boots – I guess.

I don’t know whether this is just a fake mockup for this viral, or whether Nike really developed this game for promo events. I’m personally hoping for the latter, or even better – a home version. The Portugal level looks like a fan favorite to me already.

It's a pretty easy game to make, actually - easier than Umbro's Kasabian Football Hero.

Funny you mention that Nike picked two players who play for adidas teams - I hadn't thought of that. The little animated sprites are Nike players from Nike teams. What does that say?

I wonder if Nike's paying CR9 and Dani Alves for image rights for that.
