Setanta Sports News Goes Down Fighting

By: Daryl | June 25th, 2009

This is how Setanta Sports News said goodbye on Tuesday, with nine minutes of news highlights, which are fun to watch if you want to relive some big sporting moments from last year and half.

Setanta also (as The Spoiler noted) got in a none too subtle dig at rivals Sky Sports News for being a “sports rights channel” (meaning Sky Sports News gives more coverage to sports they have the rights to).

Talk about going down fighting. I wish I could say I was going to miss them, and I’m sure a lot of people worked very hard to make Setanta Sports News happen. But Sky Sports News was always too smooth and too firmly established for Setanta’s imitation channel to steal any viewers.

  • Sky Sports is smooth, but their inability/refusal to realize by the constant use of that soundtrack that their news isn't that fucking important puts one off a bit.
