Sir Alex makes it Difficult for Future WAGs

wags-computer.jpgThese are challenging times for those aspiring to become a WAG. In recent years the competition to capture the hearts and minds of English Premier League footballers has grown fierce. No longer is it as easy as heading down to the local pub and putting out on the spot. You have to pull out all the stops so that you can be one of the lucky few to land a man who will inevitably end up cheating on you in a tabloid scandal that will impress friends and family alike.

The great equalizer in the great WAG pursuit is technology. Use it wisely and it can help you become the WAG you have always wanted to be. MySpace, Facebook, The Offside…these are all tools that can facilitate your courtship with a footballer. Except for players on Manchester United who have been told by their manager Sir Alex Ferguson that having pages on social networking groups like Facebook is not allowed this season.

A number of young stars – including England’s Kieran Richardson – at Old Trafford have set up sites on social networks like Facebook but have been ordered to go offline.

Ferguson is worried they will be stalked by girls and get themselves into trouble with revealing photos or wall messages.

‘The boss felt a few of the players could get themselves into trouble on those websites,’ an Old Trafford source told today’s Star.

‘He trusts them but didn’t want them to run the risk of putting themselves in an awkward position by saying the wrong thing.’

More senior players, like Rio Ferdinand, will escape the ban because they have professional websites set up.

So the lesson to be learned from all this is that if you want to stalk a Premiership player make sure he has a professional website set up first. Yep, that makes sense. No wonder David Beckham just launched his own site. Go get ‘em, ladies.
