Site News: This is the post where I say goodbye and give thanks
By: Bob | November 16th, 2007
Over the past 24 months, I have written 3,734 posts on World Cup Blog and The Offside. This one is both the most difficult and the easiest. It is difficult because I am leaving the blogosphere to do some other work. I am leaving a job that I have thoroughly enjoyed. It has been one where I have had the unique opportunity to follow my passion for soccer and to share my thoughts about it with a global audience. It is a job that has allowed me to get to know soccer fans from every continent and to learn from their writing.
It is a job that took me to Germany where I watched every single match of the World Cup and can amazingly still remember most of them despite copious amounts of beer consumption. It is a job where I have read stories that have literally made me cry from laughter and from sadness. It is a job that has given me the chance to work with some wonderfully creative folks at BootsnAll, the masterminds behind both of the sites. It is a job that has felt anything like a job. That makes it difficult.
What makes my decision easy is knowing that the sites which have been my life for the past two years will continue on in capable hands and that they are poised for even more growth. It is easy to leave knowing that Martha, Laurie, Chris and Daryl will continue to provide all of us with stories both serious and absurd from the world of soccer on this blog, while our fine cast of bloggers continue to share the love on the blogs throughout our network. It is easy to say good-bye knowing that BootsnAll is fully committed to the sites and to giving fans the opportunity to share their passion for their teams and that I will still be able to visit the sites and to share in the passion, while I pursue some of my other passions.
I want to thank each and every one of you for making the past couple of years simply outstanding. It has been a blessing.
–Bob

Take care Bob. It was fun to read your posts (I started following this blog during the World Cup) and we’ll miss you lots.
NB: France and Germany have new kits too. I can’t really phrase a good reaction to them right now, however.
