Dancing Alone: Top Solo Goals
By: Bob | July 2nd, 2007Who needs teammates when you can kill for the will to survive? The above video features ten of the greatest solo efforts in football history and even if the music does make you want to go out and pummel a Commie and/or a slab of beef, I think it is pretty nifty. I’d probably rank George Weah’s effort a few notches higher, but it is easy to question my taste because I am on record as saying I would pay to see Survivor in concert.

A very good video, but I think that Maradona’s should not have been top, as the defenders looked like they didnt want to go near him. Unlike Messi’s, Ronaldo’s, Giggs’ and a few of the others who had to fight off opponents to get their goal.

I agree – Weah’s goal should swap with Giggs’ – Weah’s goal never gets mentioned with Maradona and Messi but it was just as tremendous and the turnaround at the beginning was brilliant. Giggs’ was great – especially the top shelf finish – but the Gunners were statues. Maradona Messi and Weah all had to fight off defenders.

The result was already in the bag, but Ibhra’s goal was the ultimate piss-take. How many times did he feel the need to skin the same guy. Beautiful to watch.
