Some Q & A’s With Our Red Bulls Blogger Dave

If you’re like me, you read some of our Offside blogs day after day after day and think, “Who is this guy (or gal)?”

Starting today, we’re going to give you some answers. This is the first of an occasional series, Q & As With Your Offside Bloggers. First up? Our MLS bloggers, starting with Dave Martinez from Red Bulls Offside.

Here’s Dave in his own words:

Favorite team besides the one you blog on? Besides Red Bull, I would have to say Boca Juniors, followed by Fulham.

The player you’d most like to kick a ball around with ? I am Argentine, so the obvious answer would be Maradona. But I have always found Clint Mathis and his roller coaster life one that I would like to know more about. Generally, though, I’d like to kick the ball around with George W. Bush. LOVE to pick his brain abit.

Favorite ice cream? Green Tea. People, try it before you knock it!

Favorite on-the-field formation (4-4-2, 4-3-3, etc.)? 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2

Cats or dogs? Oof. I have a dog who can get overly annoying, and my moms cat is so damn cool, Im torn down the middle.

Favorite non-Offside soccer blog (because obviously we’re your favorite) Ives Galarcep @ soccerbyives.net

Last DVD you watched I just watched, for the first time, this thing called RING OF HONOR. I know the wrestling federation from geek fans I know, and I loved the OLD ECW. I saw a DVD recently, and wow, did it bring back memories. So cool. We watched it, enjoyed some enebriation, and passed out before the main event. Good times.

Who’s going to win the MLS Cup this year? Chivas v. Red Bull (we will shore up that D, you watch - Chivas wins. (man that hurts to admit) They will win from a backpass gone horribley wrong, winding up in the net.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up? A Vet. Not the war kind, the animal helper kind. Weird.

If you had to keep your eyes locked on one position (e.g. striker, goalkeeper, etc.) for an entire game, which would it be? CAM

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know - I love Cereal. And ketchup goes with everything (including soup!). The toes next to my big toe are longer than the big toe. Gross huh?

The most games you’ve ever watched in a twenty-four hour period? 4-5ish?
Morning person or night person? Middle of the day guy.

Favorite national team outside of your own? #1 - USA #1a - Argentina

Favorite TV show to watch in reruns? South Park, Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law and Metalocalypse.

Favorite current player on any team? Hmmm Jozy Altidore on the Bulls, Clint Mathis at Ergotelis, McBride at Fulham, Riquelme in Boca.

Favorite comfort food? Turkey and mustard sandwiches. Boiled Turkey. Grey Poupon. It rocks.

“Gruesome Soccer Injuries” video. Would you watch or not? Well, ya. I love CRINGE. Ide have to look away here and there, but who WOULDNT watch that?

Favorite sport or physical activity to participate in? I love Hockey and Football, love playing baseball, and I LIKE soccer, since my skills stinks. Its so much better watching the pros do it!

Best game you’ve ever seen? Wow. USA v. ARGENTINA in DC. USA won. And my Argentine family hated me all the way home.

Best pet you’ve ever had? AHHHHH MAN! My dog Willie was an 18 year old Maltese. Best friend a guy can have.

Favorite goalkeeper ever? Tony Meola. He, along with the 94ers, got me into US Soccer.

What else would you like to say about yourself? I love writing. I am self employed. I am a college grad. I interviewed a bunch of strange people from Cyndi Lauper to Type o Negative, I was at the MTV New Years with Marilyn Manson, I was in a metal band for 4 years, and I hate having acid or heartburn.
