My mate was at that game. It was his first ever live match that involved an English team. He was really excited, and by the looks of things he wasn’t disappointed.

That said, it was all a bit of a much of a nothingness. He should come over and watch a game in England!

No hard feelings — if I were a genuine West Ham fan from London, I’d be a bit miffed at the “Psychopathic English Hooligans Invade America” press coverage also.

Maurie, my apologies, I misread this:
“FYI, gents? There’s nothing ladies find more attractive than drunken guys duking it out. Especially when they’re wearing jerseys of a team from a country where they’ve spent approximately three days, total.”
as West Ham fans spending three days in the US and not US fans of West Ham having spent three days in the UK (always welcome to join the couple of million Hammers in and around London).
Must admit to being sorely miffed at the press coverage, generally…it’s all been a bit of a kerfuffle, s’pose!

CSC Security are to blame here. While they are kicking crew fans out for streamers and fans are being put in headlocks for having an umbrella for their pregnant girlfriend, drunk opposing fans are able to make it ten rows deep into crew fans before being noticed!

Stelios, all media reports are saying that you are partially correct. As I said in my earlier post, the dust-up was reportedly caused by Americans, but by Americans in West Ham jerseys. I’m not sure what I wrote that could have given you the impression I thought otherwise.

Not that the Crew fans were innocent, as you can see in the video. But according to all of the first person accounts I’ve read, the brawl itself didn’t start until drunken West Ham “fans” entered the Columbus Crew supporters section looking for trouble.

For your information – and “seeing” as you evidently have VERY poor eyesite any trouble caused was by Columbus Crew “fans” especially that big, folically-challenged lumux – who wouldn’t last five minutes at Upton Park – AND most of the WHU supporters were US based. Other than that your journalistic skills are close to being half correct. Fancy a job on ‘The Sun’?
