Someone needs to tell Roma’s fans they aren’t playing in Milan

Considering the last two times their team played outside of England blood was shed and considering the fact that there will be no booze served in Milan ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League tilt, you’d have to be a fairly mental to want to be one of the 5,000 or Manchester United supporters that are expected to watch the action at the San Siro.
And now there is word from the Independent Manchester United Supporters Association that some of the Roma ultras are going to come to Milan for the match even though their team was eliminated by Manchester United in the quarterfinals. Why would they possibly want to travel to Milan on Wednesday? My guess is that they aren’t coming to watch an evening of football.
Imusa’s report, which has been passed on to United officials, has warned that trains on the Rome-Milan route tomorrow, which would normally be relatively empty, are actually booked up. Fans have also been advised not to wear United colours, or even speak English for fear of igniting more trouble, highlighting the fighting and knife attacks which occured this weekend when Lazio and Roma met at the Stadio Olimpico.
It would be easy to go with a joke about Manchester United supporters being safe because they don’t speak understandable English anyway, but the whole situation is just another depressing chapter in the never-ending book of football fan violence.
At least this kind of thing won’t happen in the Champions League final in Athens, right? Whoops.
