Sony Creates Football In A Television

I remember the days when clever adboards were cool introductions into football marketing. The flat advertisements which were angled just so to appear standing upright. But Sony, ever the progressive thinkers, have squashed the cheeky adboards and brought about a new era of football advertising: the actual game in a television.

The stadium is the Estadio Monumental Isidro Romero Carbo in Ecuador, the home for Barcelona Sporting Club – the other one. It’s quite a massive home, too, at close to 90,000 capacity and one of the country’s most popular clubs, which gave Sony the idea to bombard the fans with their brand name.

Sony did get creative with the concept, but it was painfully simple in implementation: paint a black border around the pitch, add a Sony logo and then put one of those decal-type things on the far right to make it look more official. Simple, simple, simple. Which leads us to believe Ecuador won’t be the last recipient of the Sony TV treatment nor will Sony be the only brand.

But I’m pretty sure they won’t be sending this to the US anytime soon.

  • That's pretty cool looking. Awfully simple too!

But God, I hate that Sony ad!
  • If you don't like the game at Estadio Monumental can you change channels and watch "Lost" or something?
