Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Models Dig the Soccer Players

Always a magazine to deliver fine journalism, Sports Illustrated’s Web site has done us all a great service by asking the magazine’s swimsuit models to rank the best looking athletes in the world today. On the male side of things, the list is fairly American-centric, which makes it all the more remarkable that four out of the top ten best looking athletes play soccer.

Once again Thierry Henry comes out on the short end of the voting. The Arsenal striker is merely the 8th best looking athlete in the universe. Perhaps the biggest surprise is that Zinedine Zidane makes the list in fourth place. His newfound bad boy image actually aided his cause, at least in the eyes of one of the judges, Anne V (gratuitously pictured to the left):

He’s so hot. He looks amazing. Even the thing he did at the World Cup game, I think it actually makes him hotter. It’s one of those things that happen in people’s lives: At the most important point of their life they just screw up and throw away everything. But he’s an amazing player and so hot.

Rounding out the list are Calvin Klein model/Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg in third place and in second place there is some guy named David Beckham whose wife is likely to receive a killer pair of jeans from one of those lustful swimsuit models any day now.

Sadly, no female footballers make the top 20, but that shouldn’t stop you from taking a look and reading the magazine for the articles, of course.
