Steve McClaren Achieves YouTube Infamy

By: chris | August 13th, 2008

Question for all those who speak English as a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc language: Which is easier to understand, somebody speaking to you in normal English or someone talking to you like you’re a retarded monkey? Steve McClaren apparently thinks it’s the latter.

Bonus points if you can figure out what country he thinks he’s from.

Thats awesome! They should call it “doing a McClaren” everytime some idiot that can speak proper english, decides to put on some strange accent… Was that supposed to be a Dutch accent? It sounded more like a bad french accent…

He sounds like he has adopted the style/intonation of the way English is spoken among the Flemish or some Dutch. Actually, speaking more slowly and carefully makes perfect sense for when carrying out interviews for a foreign audience. But there is no need to speak it as if he was the foreigner.

I know its strange, it happens when u move somewhere, you end up talking like they do as thats what you hear everyday. My uncle moved to Scotland and sounds so Scottish you wouldnt know he is english.

Wow that is shocking. Ugh, I hope Arsenal puts 8 past them at the Emirates just for that.
