Steve McClaren is a Tactical Genius (Sort of)

By: Daryl | October 21st, 2008

Steve McClaren’s FC Twente were 0-0 with Heracles with ten minutes to go. But then McClaren pulled out some managerial magic. Go to the 5:55 mark on the vid and you’ll see him scream something at the top of his lungs a la Mel Gibson in Braveheart. It wasn’t “Freedom!” It may have just been “Kick it long!” Whatever it was, it worked.

Because just a few seconds later Marko Arnautovic had the ball in the back of the net for Twente to make it 1-0, and a few minutes after that Eljero Elia made it 2-0. Surely this man deserves to manage his country one day. Only question is: did McClaren shout in English, or in his incredible fake Dutch accent?
