Sticking Up For C-Ron and His Retaliation
By: Daryl | December 26th, 2008Seems like every time Man Utd play, we get a new story about either Rooney or Ronaldo kicking out at opposition defenders. For example: this, this, and this.
And it happened again today, when Ronaldo took a quick kick at Stoke’s Andy Wilkinson (above) during Utd’s 1-0 win over Stoke. But before we all jump on C-Ron for his petulance, etcetera, I think it’s worth looking at it from his side.
No doubt CR7 was lucky to get away without a red card for his reaction, but Andy Wilkinson is far from innocent here. He was actually sent off himself later following two fouls on Ronaldo.
And remember the treatment Leo Messi got from Real Madrid in El Clasico recently? The players basically took it in turns to kick lumps out of the little fella.
So, the question has to be asked: If the opposition is clearly trying to kick you out of the game, isn’t it on some level excusable to take a kick back? And before you say “no, never, because that’s what’s in the laws” bear in mind that it’s also in the laws that you shouldn’t be trying to repeatedly foul someone until they can’t take it anymore.

If I was Ronaldo I would have clocked him in the face.. but I guess that’s why I don’t play soccer…

Ronaldo deserves to be kicked.

Stoke played like a bunch of thugs today (well, every day)… Wilkinson deserved a lot more than a little flick from Ronaldo

I know that technically “intentionally attemping to kick an opponent” merits a red card, but what C-Ron did in the video hardly deserves more than a reprimand. IMO.

Chrissy’s powerless little foot stamp is nothing. It is just another example of his petulant little ego driven temper, but not worth a yellow card, or even a talking to by the ref. Considering the beatings he gets week in and week out (Which I enjoy every time), he should lash out every once in a while and get away with it. Too bad he can’t muster any balls about it.

Just another example of a petulant, spoiled brat. With his tendency to be a consisrent diver, how can he expect protection from any game official, and does he really expect respect from his fellow players? As an ex rugby player, whenever I heared an opponent whine, I increased the pressure,When he complains to the ref, wait until the next time he gets the ball. Then give him something to whine about.
