Story of the Day Being Overshadowed by the Story of the Day

By: chris | September 30th, 2009

The story of today is Milan. Milan and their complete faceplant to start the season. And while the criticisms are deserved, and Leonardo fully on his way to the unemployment office, sometimes we pay a bit too much attention to the fall of the big teams and not enough to the rise of the small ones. So with that in mind…

Have you seen Zurich’s goal? Really seen it?

Let’s rephrase that: have you ever seen a giant 33yo Scandinavian centerback do a half-pirouette and backheel a ball into the back of the net while still in the air? Didn’t think so. Ladies & gents…Hannu Tihinen.

Now let’s take a look at some of the other stories from Wednesday which should slack some jaws.

Cristiano Ronaldo is really good at football.
Arjen Robben suffered a “serious” injury.
Michael Owen was subbed out in the 9th minute via injury.
Abel Resino is current president of the “Why Does He Have A Job Again?” club.

People have complained that the Champions League is predictable. Michel Platini claims he changed all that. Sure.
